Katja&#8217;s culinary journey began at the age of 14, when she first discovered her love for cooking. Despite initially pursuing studies in philosophy and German studies at the University of Leipzig for two semesters, she realized that her true calling lay in the world of gastronomy. Consequently, at the age of 19, she made the bold decision to leave her academic pursuits behind and embark on a culinary training as a cook.
Following her training, Katja honed her skills by working in various restaurants in the vibrant culinary scenes of Frankfurt and Mannheim. However, it was her relocation to San Francisco in 2012 that truly transformed her understanding of cooking, ingredients, and techniques. Immersed in the innovative food culture of the city, she embraced concepts such as farm-to-table, root-to-flower, nose-to-tail, and the art of crafting handmade pasta.
Returning to Germany, Katja continued her culinary journey, working in Würzburg and later Hamburg. However, at the age of 30, she made the decision to bid farewell to the demanding restaurant industry, though her passion for food remained undiminished. This led her to explore a new avenue as a food stylist for essen&#038;trinken magazine. After two years of honing her skills in this role, she ventured into the realm of self-employment, establishing herself as a freelance food stylist. Initially focused on editorial work, she eventually discovered her affinity for the dynamic world of advertising.
When Katja isn&#8217;t busy creating culinary delights, she finds joy in traveling, immersing herself in nature, and engaging in the invigorating activity of stand-up paddleboarding (SUPing).
